Red Riding Hood
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke, the little fairytale of a little girl who learns the dangers of talking to strangers has been turned into an extraordinary murder mystery. Valerie, played by Amanda Seyfried, comes across as clear-sighted, independent young woman who would never fall for the pathetic tricks of some hairy beast posing as her grandmother. She is betrothed to Henry, played by Max Irons, by the arrangement of her parents but secretly her heart belongs to Peter, played by Shiloh Fernandez, who is a woodcutter, a profession which ranks very low in the social status ladder.
Valerie is left with no other option but to elope with Peter, but her decision must be postponed when her sister turns up dead, the victim of a terrorizing wolf that has troubled the people of Daggerhorn for decades. The men of Daggerhorn pledge to avenge the girl’s death and murder the monstrous animal,but they appear to be hopeless in their endeavor until Father Solomon, played by Gary Oldman, arrives on the scene. The Daggerhornians are informed by Solomon that the wolf they are dealing with is no mere wolf, but a shape-shifting werewolf with powers far stronger than any of them can anticipate.
To make matters worse, when the moon isn’t full, it walks among them, unnoticed, in human form – so, this announcement makes everyone is a suspect. The werewolf seems oddly interested in Valerie and some of the scenes evoke laughter which is by the way, completely unintentional. But the visuals are stunning and you should be able to enjoy them on your notebook screen if you decide to download it online for free.
The film fails to extract seriousness from the audience and comes off as a cheesy experience. Watch Red Riding Hood if you want to but the best option will be to download the movie online for free.
