The story tells the tale of a 14th century heroic crusader (played by Nicolas Cage) who returns with his closest friend (played by Ron Perlman) to find their homeland devastated by the Black Plague. The Church is convinced that a girl accused of being a witch, is behind all this tragedy and command the two knights to escort the young girl to a distant abbey, where the monks will perform a complex ritual in hopes of getting rid the land of her curse. The two knights gradually discover the girl’s dark secret and find themselves in a battle fighting a powerful force that will determine the existence of their land.
The movie ‘Season of the Witch’ packs in too much hocus pocus and mumbo jumbo to entertain the popular mindset. It is not visually appealing to see two hardened knights shielding their swords against a helpless little girl until of course, the girl dons all her Satanic avatars and starts changing to evil forms. There are some scenes in the movie which make you sit up and take notice and may be worth a watch on your computer if you decide to download the movie free. The scenes are aesthetically shot though and make for some nice wallpapers. Watching the film, one cannot help but wish a better performance from Nicolas Cage he surely is not at his best in the movie ‘Season of the Witch’.
