The story takes place in the late 1940s when mafias were ruling the streets of New York and other cities. Don Corleone’s family was one of the most widely known and respected families well known for their morals. The don soon realized that he would need one of his sons to take over the family business once he was gone.
Michael Corleone had made it clear from the start that he had no interest in the family business. He had gone against his fathers wishes in almost everything ranging from his decision to join the army to bringing home a non Italian girlfriend. Unfortunately, Michael will soon realize that there is a limit to what he can control in his life. The clash of Don Corleone’s old fashioned values with the new and constantly developing ways of the world will have a grave impact on the entire family. Especially Michael.
The Godfather was nominated for eleven Oscars out of which it received three. The film was also nominated for seven Golden Globe awards out of which it won five. These, amongst other countless awards won over time, describe the movie very accurately. Summed up, it is perfection !
